Like many other musical theatre fans, I have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Wicked movie, an adaptation of the musical of the same name (itself an adaptation of Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel ‘Wicked; the life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West’, which itself derives from 1939 MGM film the ‘Wizard of Oz’, a retelling of L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel ‘the Wonderful Wizard of Oz’)
The Autumn Budget in a Nutshell
On 30 October 2024, Rachel Reeves stood in parliament and announced the Autumn Budget for the UK. For those who may not know, the Budget is a statement made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer to declare how the UK’s government finances will be divided, and the changes to taxation. It also includes the predictions for economic growth.
The Climate Crisis
We are currently facing the biggest crisis in the entirety of human history. It’s called global warming, and on Monday 11 November, last Monday, the warming rose to 1.54 degrees Celsius.
Year 7 memories
Being a Year 7 starting out in the Senior School can be tough; so tough, in fact, that it is remembered still by older students who have long since undergone the stress and pressure. As a Year 7 myself, I have interviewed a few Year 11 students who may have been traumatised by this random interaction at first, but were happy to share once they realised the motive for me grabbing them at lunch.
