Stages of writing for unconquered peaks

Now, dear readers, since I would not call myself something of a veteran when it comes to writing for Unconquered Peaks, I thought it would be fun to share my creative process when it comes to these lovely articles.

  • Oh, Elspie is asking for articles? Yeah, I can do one. (Saturday)
  • Wait… What am I going to write about?
  • That’s a tomorrow problem.
  • Still a tomorrow problem. (Sunday)
  • I’ll sort it tomorrow. (Monday)
  • *completely forgets what UP is and pretends it doesn’t exist*
  • OH NO IT’S WEDNESDAY
  • *spends 2 hours trying to furiously write an article by end of day Wednesday*
  • Finally, it’s done!
  • Wait, let’s check spelling and grammar.
  • Ah…
  • *spends far too long making it actually sound like English*
  • Perfect, time to send this off. Done!
  • Elspie: “hey lovely, so you didn’t actually attach the document. Love the email though!”
  • Time to send it off 2.0…
  • Breathes a sigh of relief. (Thursday)
  • Time to be a social media queen and do all these UP posts. (Friday)
  • Oh, Elspie is asking for articles? Yeah, I can totally do one. (Saturday)

Thrilling, I know. I’m afraid this week it is rather short and sweet, but I feel it is an accurate explanation of what goes through my head each time I write for our beloved Unconquered Peaks. And thus ends my three-week UP streak (that rhymes!) as I feel that writing four weeks in a row will really be getting excessive. But I’ll be back after half term… there’s lots more fun to come!
