On Sunday 14th of March at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, musicians gathered far and wide on Zoom screens or in person to attend the 63rd Grammy Awards. The ceremony passed with no major technical failures and it featured several impressive performances that adapted well to the televised format with almost no live audience: Dua Lipa proving that she can actually dance instead of looking like a pencil sharpening, Taylor Swift’s cottage-core mashup of Cardigan/August/Willow, Doja Cat finding yet another way to make ‘Say So’ new and interesting, HAIM stomping around showing that they can in fact go toe-to-toe with any male rock band, and Bruno Mars making his suave comeback after snatching Lorde’s AOTY to name a few. While other performers, well, didn’t. (Harry Styles I’m looking right at your extremely underwhelming Grammy opening performance and ugly red-carpet look.)

Although Joe Biden’s inauguration has left us with many memorable moments, such as Lady Gaga’s brilliant performance, some incredibly put-together monochromatic outfits, and my personal favourite, Amanda Gorman’s spirited and inspiring poem, one of the most talked about moments of the inauguration was orchestrated by everyone’s favourite Vermont senator, Bernie Sanders. In such a strange time between the pandemic, the capitol riots, and exam uncertainty, I found myself once again asking for a Bernie meme (please understand this reference), and of course Senator Sanders delivered as usual. So, in honour of one of the people who inspired my love for American politics, I’ve decided to rank my favourite Bernauguration memes from my least favourite to my very favorites.

Now that Trump is out and we’ve #settledforbiden2020 with much celebration, the absurd course of the election feels like a long ago fever dream. Unless you’re Nevada. Anywho.
