Getting to Know the 2022-23 SLT: Music

I decided to sit down with (or, rather, phone) the individual members to get an insight into their thinking, their visions, and their expectations of the year ahead. It was a truly eye-opening experience, and I’m thrilled to present the outcomes of the discussion with Parker, the Music rep.

What do you love most about music, and why this role?

-I love all sides of music. Not just the academic side, but the performing, too. Sharing that with other people and seeing how music can affect them, whether they study it or not.

I love that. Do you have anything that you’d like to achieve over the coming year?

-Alright, mainly – I want to bring back the events in full force. Also, we’re getting a new music director in September, it’s both sad and exciting, but supporting and getting him accustomed to the school. Also, giving students opportunities to get involved with music, because obviously we haven’t been able to for the past few years, and… just getting people to love it.

Fun question – what’s your favourite clef?

-The bass clef – Even though it’s awful to read. It’s just got such good vibes. Alto clef is the worst – it kills me every time I have to read it in class.
