Bee inspired! Our Art Competition winner

Ava reveals the winning contribution to our biodiversity art competition.

Bee on a flower

Congratulations to Catherine C in Year 10, who won the Biodiversity Art competition! We created this competition to get WHS students out and about to enjoy the biodiversity of their local area and be inspired by nature to create their own art. We loved the depth and detail of Catherine’s bee; the representation is immaculate and the stylistic choice of black and white is simply gorgeous!

We were so inspired by Catherine’s drawing, we decided to look into some facts about bees ourselves. Did you know that bees perform an action called waggle dancing? But it’s not a dance move at all, it’s a clever way of communicating, to tell their nest mates where to go to find the best food sources. Cool right?

Thank you so much to everyone who entered the Biodiversity Art competition. We had so much fun looking through all your entries and it was a very close call to decide a winner as you’re all so talented! Be sure to keep an eye out for the next competition.
